New Degree Offered
Beginning fall quarter 2005, UCLA will offer a new Bachelor of Arts and Science (B.A.S.) degree to undergraduate students.

Students working toward a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in two different fields in the UCLA College of Letters and Science will now be awarded a B.A.S. degree.

First Green Building Opens
La Kretz Hall, UCLA’s newest structure and its first building to be certified “green” — meaning that it meets stringent environmental guidelines — opened in June.

Named after alumnus Morton La Kretz, the building will house the UCLA Institute of the Environment as well as serve as a hub for undergraduate instruction. The structure will provide classrooms for undergraduate education and distance learning, office space and facilities for academic conferences.
